22 month beach baby

We returned last weekend from a relaxing week on Amelia Island with Nana and Papa. I don't think anyone wanted to come home! We just hung out all week and ate lots of seafood, and enjoyed the sunny, hot weather, and the great downtown shopping! No rain days!

Elizabeth enjoyed the beach so much more than last year, although she was scared of the waves on our first night there. The tide was coming in that afternoon and Elizabeth said "boom, boom," and clung to my neck.

She eventually warmed up to being near the ocean's edge, and even went in with Justin a few times and loved it! The water was SO warm, about 80+ degrees, and the weather was in the high 90s and even 100 degrees a few days.

We also spent a lot of time in the pool, where Elizabeth did a great job blowing bubbles and kicking her legs.

Elizabeth is also working on a few new teeth as you can see below.

Another nice part of our trip to Amelia, was our time with my cousin who came drove up for the afternoon with her daughter Isabella, age 5. Isabella and Elizabeth were having fun together until Papa got involved....Elizabeth did NOT want her Papa paying attention to another child! She gave him quite a look, which continued into pool time. It was pretty funny to watch. She did not like sharing her Papa!

Each morning at the beach, Elizabeth was somehow compelled to wake up around 5 a.m., yelling, "Beach, beach, water, water, Nana, Papa!" Since we were sharing a room with her, it was a little hard to ignore, ha! Especially when a stuffed animal came flying out of the pack n' play. She was always ready to start the day and do a roll call. Too bad if someone was trying to sleep in, Elizabeth would come knocking on the door! We were all ready for a nap after lunch!

Elizabeth has been talking up a storm too, saying so many new words each day. This morning she woke up and asked me "Where'd Uncle Kyle go?" Last week she surprised us all with the word "dinosaur." And Justin was a little horrified tonight when Aunt Annie and Uncle Kyle taught Elizabeth the Florida Gator "chomp." Elizabeth picked it up very quickly, saying "alligator" and "chomp, chomp" throughout the night. I guess we'd better work on our UGA bulldog and GaTech yellowjacket symbols!

We love you, little 22 month old! You keep us on our toes, and now watching every word we say, since you are bound to repeat it right away!
