"Dirt!"aka Chocolate Cupcakes!
(We're practicing a little cake for the upcoming 2nd birthday) :-)
Elizabeth is talking SO much now! It amazes us how much she can say, and comprehend! We think she can say over 100 words now, and the list grows every day.
Yesterday she ate her first chocolate cupcake. Elizabeth was so excited watching Mimi bake and frost the cupcakes (referering to them as "ice-creams"), but when it came time to eat one, we placed one on her tray, and she recoiled, looking a little insulted, saying, "DIRT!!!" Yes, that is my little Miss Clean! She looked shocked that we'd put something like DIRT on her tray!
She also has a fear of loud cars. The other day a diesel truck drove by the house and she started shaking, which was so pitiful! "Scary!" she said. Then, the other day she saw a musical doll, and shouted "scary!!!"
The other word she uses a lot is, "Hot!" If she doesn't want to take a bath, she'll pronounce it (the extremely lukewarm bathwater!) as "Hottttt!" (And she often insists in keeping a cool stream of water coming into the tub, mostly to distribute water from one cup to another)
Another phrase heard throughout the house, and wherever Elizabeth goes is "Mies!" Pronounced: "My's." Meaning? "Mine!!!!"
A few weeks ago at the pool, she told a little boy that the stairs were "Mies!" And last night she told Great-Grandma that a toy was "Mies!" She also told some elementary school aged boys that the playground slide is "Mies!" but they did not seem too intimidated. She just loves to say "Mies!"
In other Elizabeth happenings, she now has a favorite TV show....Something I swore would never happen (TV that is). But, yes, unfortunately she loves "Yo Gabba Gabba" on the Noggin channel. After watching it just once or twice a few months ago, she knew all of the character names. And, after seeing them on display at the local Target, she had a fit when I wouldn't buy them. (Tootie, the blue one is her favorite, as far as I could tell!)
She also loves reading, and now enjoys telling stories to her stuffed animals and dolls. She loves to be read to as well ,and is interacting with her books more and more. The other day Nana was reading Elizabeth a new book, one page featuring the Moon. Elizabeth looked at the page and asked, "Where's the stars???" (she is so smart!!)
Maybe too smart? Just the other day after making an online order, my credit card was missing. So, for the first time I had to ask her, "Where did you put Mommy's American Express?" Her answer? "I dunno!" (throwing her hands up in the air). About an hour later, I found it...in the DVD player.
It's so fun to see her little personality bloom!
