23 mos and Almost 5!

Today our darling boy is 23 months, and proud big sister is almost 5!  Wow... time flies! Sniff, sniff.

Several family members have asked me to update this woefully neglected blog, so I'll do my best!

Blake has really been catching up on his verbal skills and talking, talking, and sharing LOTS of opinions! Ever since our July 4 trip to the Gulf Coast, he's really been talking in full sentences and words.  He remains such a sweet, sweet boy, loves to cuddle, AND play with his cars and trains. And of course, he loves to do everything big sister does.

Elizabeth has been spending her summer with a mix of swim lessons (she even did a surprise dive into the pool last Sunday, completely scaring me!), two separate weeks of morning gymnastics camp and two separate weeks of Vacation Bible School (one at our mega church and one at her cozy Methodist preschool).  The theme for both was "Trust God."

She has enjoyed her various activities, but now that we're just three weeks out til the start of preschool, we're in low gear, just enjoying the final weeks of our summer.

Father's Day backyard pool fun with cousins
Yes- poor Blake has a lot of "zinc oxide" sunscreen on his face :-)
All the cousins out in the backyard for pool and "slip and slide" time.

Fourth of July fun... in festive bathing suits :-)
 More cousin love
We only had one rainy morning at the beach, and enjoyed our free admission into the Naval Air Museum, which had a fabulous design and layout for kids.... Lots of vintage planes on display for little ones to climb

And above, Blake on his tricycle earlier this spring...complete with helmet :-)

Back to the beach - we've enjoyed two beach trips so far this summer - a long Memorial Day weekend at Navarre with Mimi and GP; and July 4 weekend with Onnie, Papa, Lydia, Annie and Kyle.  And we're planning a Labor Day weekend trip to Amelia Island to close out the summer.

We also celebrated two retirements - Onnie and Papa both retired this summer, and we enjoyed attending both of their send offs at work.

It's hard to believe that "fall" will soon be here, and that we'll be back to school soon!
