Happy Third Birthday, Elizabeth Jean!
Tonight when we were getting her ready for bed (which is quite a lengthy process, let me assure you!) I told her..."Tomorrow morning, you are going to wake up as a Three Year Old!" She looked quite solemn when she heard this. I am a little sad, too!
At the beach this summer
Just in the past few weeks, Elizabeth has somehow felt "older" to both of us. She listens in on our conversations, add lots of content and commentary, and seems like such a big girl! And of course, now she is a big sister!Three years ago tonight, Justin and I were eating at a Chipotle restaurant in Wichita, wondering what was going to happen. Little did we know, we'd be blessed by the most beautiful little girl just a few short hours later.
As she turns "3," here are a few little details about Elizabeth's personality and sayings:
She LOVES animals of all kinds - especially dogs and cats. She also loves making crafts and painting.
Personality: shy with strangers, but at home, she chatters nonstop, and makes the funniest observations. She is very verbal and absorbs more than we think she does. She is very organized and loves telling her little friends what to do. We think she'll either be a successful businesswoman or doctor because she is just SO bossy, determined and loves telling others what to do. This little miss just won't back down!!
Funny pronunciations: Elizabeth is very verbal, but still has some cute little sayings I don't want to forget:
Cupcakes - pronounced "pupcakes"
Yellow - pronounced "lellow"
When she wants us to hold her, she'll yell, "Uppie!!!"
Video - pronounced "Bideo"
She HATES being messy, and will yell "Paper towel!!!!!" at the sight of food on her hands, in the method of a surgeon yelling "scalpel!!" If the paper towel doesn't appear pretty quickly, she'll just yell louder and louder!
She is also very sensitive and intuitive...When my mom had an accident a few weeks ago, she told her "Jesus will heal it!" and then "Jesus cures boo boos." (The funniest thing is that she pronounces "cure" as "kill," so it took some time to understand that last comment!"). Elizabeth was a little irritated to see that my mom still had the cast on the next morning and that the healing wasn't quite so instantaneous. But- apparently our Bible stories at home are sinking in a little bit!!!
Elizabeth also LOVES being outside. She loves helping Papa water and weed his vegetable garden, and loves walking to the neighborhood park. (It's finally getting cool enough in the evenings to do this again!!)
And she is making a beautiful transition into big sister. She adores Baby Blake (for now!) and loves holding (or as she says "hugging" him as much as possible. He is the first thing she's been asking for each morning.
We are so blessed beyond measure! We love you, little girl!!
