Last year, she rested peacefully on the grandparents' laps during the Christas Eve service, and drank a bottle. This year, she hopped from lap to lap and would occasionally yell out "BABY" during the singing and sermon. She also made faces at mom and dad's sunday school teacher (lifting her eyebrows at him), and then "splashed" a couple in front of us with her sippy cup (oops! fortunately they also had toddlers with them). Elizabeth did love seeing the nativity scene with Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus, and that kept her rapt attention the full time.
This year, on Christmas morning, our little 15 going on 16 month old was VERY aware of the tree, and all of the presents waiting for her! She has been practicing saying "ho ho ho" and can pat her tummy like Santa does. She has also been learning about Baby Jesus, Joseph and Mary through the books we have been reading, as well as the childsize nativity scene that Nana found for her. (Elizabeth loves all natvity scenes now and will repeatedly say "baby" when she sees Jesus.)
We started off the morning at home, opening presents from mom and dad aka "Santa." Then we moved on to Nana and Papa's house where they and Aunt Annie and Uncle Kyle were waiting. We had lunch with them, and were again spoiled with lots of presents... The drum and mariachi instruments from Annie and Kyle were a huge hit. She also loved Buddy the talking farmer set from Nana and Papa among other gifts. We wrapped up the day at Mimi and GP's house where Uncle Nathaniel, Great Grandma and Greatgrandpa and Aunt Deborah were waiting, and were spoiled again. I think her favorite gift there was the toddler "Bitty Baby" who has brown hair and brown eyes just like Elizabeth.
The gifts and excitement had her very excited! She's finally in bed for the night- whew!
We got so many presents today, but the best gift of all has been our sweet girl, and watching her grow each day. We are so thankful for her and having her in our lives.
