Preparing for Baby

We were blessed with a shower from our Sunday school class this weekend. We are also busy finishing up the baby's nursery. And doing lots of laundry. Lots of teeny tiny baby clothes- adorable!!! I love doing this kind of laundry!

Here are a few shots from the weekend. Don't laugh too hard at some of them! :-)

Justin, Kevin and Aaron had to compete in a "bottle drinking" contest. There was maybe an ounce of Coca Cola in each bottle but it took a while for them to finish! Kevin was the winner! (Also check out the guys' matching shirts and shorts- ha ha)

Here's a shot of Elizabeth's nursery, looking in from the door. The curtains are lavender/purple gingham. And the center curtains have small dragonflies on them. They go great with the bedding. We are still trying to come up with the perfect "artwork" for over the crib. It may be Elizabeth's name spelled out in block letters up high. Or we may stencil a design over it. I definitely don't want to put up anything that she could pull down on herself when she is standing. Yikes!! (And for those safety folks out there, know that the quilt will not go in the bed when the baby is there! It's just there for the photo/decorative purposes right now. It will go over the rocking chair) :-)

Originally the changing table was to the immediate right of the door....However, my dad surprised us this weekend with an custom built dollhouse bookcase! The "Pottery Barn Kids" bookcase was his inspiration. The end result was a lot bigger than he expected when he first started working on it! Our bookcase has four shelves instead of three.
Even better than PBK! :-)
So now the book case is on the immediate right when you walk into the nursery. It will be a great place to store books, dolls and toys, etc. There are a few books already and I am sure her collection will grow each year! We love to read!

The picture up at the very top of the page is a very special shot. The dresser was Justin's when he was a baby. And the framed "artwork" above the dresser was made by my grandma when she was nine years old. She cross stitched these as part of a quilt, way back in 1938! They were then framed when Annie and I were little, and is very special to have them in Elizabeth's room now. They have been waiting in my hope chest for quite a while!! :-)
We are looking forward to our trip to Kansas and meeting Tracy...and of course Little Baby. Less than 11 days to go until Tracy's induction date!! And of course, the baby may decide to come before then.
Bags, car seat and other supplies are packed and ready to go!
